He was born on 11 June 1948 in Phulwaria village, Gopalganj district, Bihar. He grew up in average middle class family and His father Kundan Rai was a farmer and his mother Marachhiya Devi was a homemaker.
He studied at B.N. College, Patna University where he completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and later a Master’s in Political Science. During his college days, he became active in student politics and showed leadership qualities early on.
Career
Lalu Prasad Yadav started his political career in the 1970s as a student leader influenced by Jayaprakash Narayan’s movement. In 1977 at just 29 years old, he became one of the youngest Members of Parliament (MP) in India.
